Best show I've seen off Broadway!

The auditorium venue is a gem, especially for a community college! The ushers and everyone working were extremely welcoming, kind, and efficient - it was easy to get to, had free parking, and emptied quickly. The musical itself was top notch! I have seen many musicals on Broadway, and the performances in this touring production were comparable to those. The energy and the choreography were superb, as was the execution of the numbers. The comedic timing of Nina West was priceless! The entire cast was incredibly talented, but Nina West was by far the star. So so glad we got to experience this production!!!

High energy, but some changes detract from show's quality

We've seen multiple performances of Hairspray with multiple companies. While it's always hard to match the feeling and energy of the first time one sees a show, we were eager to attend this rendition. We were surprised and disappointed at certain changes to this performance which we felt detracted from both the show's story and character. In particular, the cast included several dialogue lines containing overt sexual innuendos, most of which were simply not funny. The changes had the effect of rendering the show unsuitable in our opinion for younger audiences where we would have been glad to bring pre-teen children to previous shows. We very much enjoyed several numbers, especially "I Know Where I've Been" and "You Can't Stop the Beat" both of which brought the energy and toe-tapping tempo we expected. Overall, we're happy we went despite the changes.
